Management Team

Michael (Mike) Coogan joined MBS in 2024 as a managing director in investment banking. Mike specializes in working with depository institutions across the balance sheet. His deep experience in managing a bank balance sheet and running trading desks leads to keen insights and execution strategies to enhance shareholder value. Mike has spent more than 30 years in a variety of well-rounded senior positions in highly respected firms. From 2015 to 2024, Mike was a Managing Director in Brean Capital’s Investment Banking group helping both bank and non-bank lenders raise capital, enhance balance sheet flexibility and explore strategic growth opportunities. From 2013 to 2015, Mike was a Senior Vice President in trading and sales for Fixed Income Capital Partners. From 2009 through 2013, Mike was an Executive Vice President and Treasurer at Southside Bank in Tyler, Texas. His multiple responsibilities included investment portfolio strategy and execution resulting in material increases in profitability, as well as assisting in the management of the balance sheet. He was also president of the company’s subsidiary, Southside Securities. Mike was a key and instrumental leader in a variety of capacities all of which are beneficial in his current capacity at MBS. From 2006-2008, Mike was a senior vice president at ANB Financial where he oversaw all trading activity. From 1995-2006, Mike was the first senior vice president at Performance Trust Capital Partners. Michael earned a bachelor’s degree with departmental honors from DePauw University and earned his MBA from Indiana University, where he graduated Beta Gamma Sigma. He is a CFA^® Charterholder and holds FINRA securities licenses Series 7, 24, 27, 52, 53, 63, 79 and 99.
