James (Jim) Powell joined Multi-Bank Securities, Inc. (MBS) in 2013 as a senior vice president. Jim works in South Florida as MBS’s head of capital markets, a role in which he focuses on key relationships and new business opportunities. In this role, he has been instrumental in MBS’s inclusion in more than $700 billion of new issue securities across corporates, agency multifamily commercial mortgage-backed securities and government agency debt.
Just prior to joining MBS, Jim was a senior vice president and head of agency trading at JVB Financial Group. Before JVB, Jim served as managing director and co-head of agency trading at Incapital LLC (now known as InspereX), where he was responsible for all agency relationships and managing agency retail note programs for Freddie Mac and TVA. Jim also spent 10 years serving as a first vice president at LaSalle Bank/ABN AMRO, where he was responsible for agency trading, capital markets and issuer relationship management. Jim was instrumental in the launch of agency retail notes programs for Freddie Mac and TVA. Before LaSalle, he spent seven years at Freddie Mac as a debt portfolio manager responsible for debt issuance, management and derivative execution.
Jim has earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration and an MBA in finance, both from the George Washington University. He holds the following FINRA licenses: a General Securities Representative (Series 7), a General Securities Principal (Series 24), a Uniform Securities Agent State Law Representative (Series 63), and a Limited Representative – Investment Banking (Series 79).
